RecOil aims to increase the production of sustainable biodiesel and its local market uptake by promoting household collection of used cooking oil and fat and the transformation of this to biodiesel.
As part of the project pilot projects on household collection of UCO have been implemented in all participant countries. From February 1st 2014 - January 15th 2015 a pilot project has run in Viborg Municipality testing such a collection system. The pilot project is a partnership between Agro Business Park, Revas – Viborg Municipality's waste handling department and Daka who is a biodiesel producer. Furthermore, teaching materials for school children about the value and energy potential of UCO has been developed in the project.
Project period: 2012 - 2015. The project is co-financed by the Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) programme.
