B5Next is a large scale demonstration project with focus on delivery and distribution of biodiesel. "B5" indicates in this context the mix of 5% biodiesel in the conventional diesel. The purpose of B5 Next is to create experience with establishment of an appropriate logistics system for delivery of biodiesel to commercial petrol stations and test how consumers receive the product.
As part of the project the diesel in Aarhus Municipality's 75 petrol stations will be mixed with 5% biodiesel from March to November 2009. Furthermore, public busses will run on 5% biodiesel. The biodiesel used in the project is produced on animal waste by Daka Biodiesel in Løsning. This is the first 2.G. fuel introduced to the Danish market.
Project milestones:
Adaption of the oil companies' distribution facilities at Aarhus Harbour
Implementing a pilot project with a 5% biodiesel mix in conventional diesel
Collecting technical, logistical and organisational experiences for use on national scale
test consumer attitudes towards the product
