INBIOM is one of 22 national innovation networks in Denmark. Our focus is on intelligent production and utilisation of biomass in the transition to a biobased economy. We help Danish biomass companies gain access to new knowledge, finansing, and new partners and opportunities in Denmark and abroad.
The purpose of INBIOM is to be a catalyst for innovation and development of new, sustainable biomass-based technologies and companies and ensure that Denmark stays in the lead within the field of bioeconomy.
In practice this means that the focus areas for us are production, pre-treatment, separation, and conversion of biomass. Realisation of the potential in the biobased economy very much depends on more knowledge of the biomass itself and how the different components such as carbohydrates, proteins and other valuable elements are produced, separated and processed optimally.
INBIOM includes innovation within all types of biomass; green (grasses, crops), yellow (straw), brown (wood), blue (algae, seaweed), and grey (livestock manure, organic waste).
The main focus is to create as many and valuable streams as possible through existing and new value chains and make products of the highest possible value out of the biomass. Another priority is to improve the utilisation and nutrient recirculation in low value biomass and waste from industry, agriculture and communities.
